What began as a small locksmith’s workshop in Kötz in 1931 is now an internationally positioned group of companies specialising in vehicle technology. AL-KO Vehicle Technology develops and produces chassis, suspension, braking and suspension solutions for a variety of vehicle segments: from trailers and recreational vehicles to commercial, construction and agricultural vehicles.
We combine decades of engineering experience with international expertise in development, production and service. Close collaboration with vehicle manufacturers, distribution partners and service organisations accompanies our solutions from development through to after-sales service.
Since 2016, AL-KO Vehicle Technology has been part of DexKo Global. As a business unit, we benefit from an international network of technology and production and combine global expertise with close proximity to our customers and partners.

From locksmith’s workshop to international group of companies
Over 90 years of experience and technical development
The history of today's AL-KO Vehicle Technology Group began in 1931, when Alois Kober took over a small locksmith’s workshop in Kötz. Right from the start, practical technical solutions and the continuous improvement of existing systems were at the forefront. Innovations in braking systems and chassis technology laid the foundation for the company's growth over the following decades.
International expansion began in 1961 with the first subsidiary abroad in Austria. Entry into the caravan business in the 1970s added further vehicle segments and technologies. Developments such as the reverse drive automatic, the chassis for the Fiat Ducato, the stabiliser coupling AKS, and later ATC Trailer Control are typical examples of this development.
The next chapter began in 2016 with affiliation to DexKo Global. Today, AL-KO VT combines its longstanding engineering expertise with an international development, production and service network.
