Custom electronics solutions for recreational vehicles

AL-KO VT supplies components for building the electrical systems of recreational vehicles. For OEMs, custom 12 V and 230 V systems can be developed and implemented according to the requirements of the respective vehicle concept.

Alongside bespoke solutions, standard kits are an option for manufacturers of small series and special vehicles. Depending on the application, a range of components can be combined into a coordinated electrical system.

A reliable power supply is an essential requirement for the on-board electronics of modern recreational vehicles. AL-KO VT offers a range of battery and charging solutions for these requirements.

Charge controllers can, for example, recharge the battery via the towing vehicle, an existing power supply unit, or a solar panel. Depending on the version, various charging currents, inputs and functions are available.

The power supply and other electrical functions can thus be matched to the vehicle concept.

Power distribution units are responsible for key tasks within the on-board electronics. AL-KO VT integrates this function with lighting control systems and additional switching elements.

Connections that are otherwise implemented by screw or clamp connectors can be combined on printed circuit boards. This helps simplify the wiring within the recreational vehicle.

Depending on the system, the following functions may be available, among others:

• Switching and dimming individual lighting circuits
• Switching between cool and warm lighting
• Saving and recalling individual lighting scenarios
• Integrating additional vehicle functions
• Operation via panels
• Integration into the CI-Bus
• Control via smartphone or central control units

Power distribution units and lighting control systems can be designed as modular or centralised controls.

Control panels provide the central interface between user and on-board electronics. AL-KO VT develops and manufactures panels in various versions and technologies.

Depending on the vehicle and operating concept, LED, LCD or touchscreen panels are possible. Modern displays can be used to control different vehicle functions such as heating, ventilation or air conditioning.

Tank levels, temperatures and power supply information can also be integrated into the control concept.

Bus systems enable controllers, sensors, actuators and control panels within the recreational vehicle to communicate with one another. AL-KO VT develops both traditional electrical systems and bus-based solutions.

A particular focus is placed on the CI-Bus. This interface enables various functions to be integrated into an overall control concept. Depending on the system, these can for example be operated via a master panel or smartphone.

In addition, bus-based system nodes can be equipped with microprocessors. Depending on the application, they can perform functions as a sensor, actuator or data storage unit.

Sensors supply important information for controlling and monitoring the recreational vehicle. AL-KO VT offers, among other things, temperature sensors and tank level probes for water tanks.

Level probes can be designed according to different tank shapes. Temperature sensors can, for example, detect outdoor and indoor temperatures or take on switching functions for the heating system.

The recorded data can then be integrated into control and display systems.

AL-KO VT develops and manufactures wiring harnesses specifically for recreational vehicles. The required wiring sets and components are defined together with the vehicle manufacturer.

The range covers everything from simple connections to complete harnesses. Wiring sets can be produced for various vehicle layouts. AL-KO VT also assists with component selection and the necessary documentation.

There are two dedicated production sites specialising in the manufacture of wiring harnesses.

Not every vehicle project has the same electronics requirements. Large-scale production calls for different solutions to small series or special vehicles.

AL-KO VT can therefore offer both bespoke systems developed for OEMs and standard kits for manufacturers of small series and special vehicles. Components, wiring and the control concept can be individually configured according to the intended application.

AL-KO VT supports projects from design and development through to production. Electronics, wiring and system integration can all be considered together.
