    From a compliance perspective, procurement is subject to particular requirements and risks. To minimise these risks, transparent processes are necessary. Potential breaches of the law must be avoided, fair competition must be ensured, and regular checks of the supplier base must be conducted.

    Process-Oriented Procurement

    Our Principles

    To maintain and strengthen our company’s position in the long term, process-oriented procurement at AL-KO VT plays a key role. Procurement of production materials, commercial goods, capital goods, services and indirect requirements takes place in a global procurement network. We set high requirements for our suppliers and, in turn, offer cooperative business relationships with prospects for growth and development.

    Goal-Oriented Procurement

    The objective is clear: Our focus is on ensuring cost-efficient supply at a high-quality level to AL-KO VT production sites worldwide. When selecting the right suppliers, it is essential to understand the cost structures of the entire supply chain. Only with sufficient cost transparency can we assess which suppliers are able to meet target costs. This requires suppliers to provide transparent information about their cost drivers. This is not about questioning the supplier's profit. Rather, it is about identifying mutual cost drivers along the entire value chain. Our objective is to supply our global production sites on a cost-efficient basis while maintaining consistently high quality standards. Together, we identify cost drivers that can be influenced within the value chain and develop actions to reduce these. We see this as the basis for long-term partnerships and their ongoing development.

    The wide product portfolio at AL-KO VT results in a similarly wide range of requirements. We have therefore compiled an overview of our requirements for you.

    To become approved as a supplier for AL-KO VT, you follow a standardised application process.

    Firstly, please complete our supplier self-disclosure form for the relevant area in full. This asks for basic information about your company.

    Once your application has been reviewed and there is a requirement for your product or service, we will contact you.

    Metals

    We procure metals and metal components for our products according to defined quality and material specifications. These include steel coils, sheet steel, steel tubes and steel profiles, as well as cast and forged parts.

    • Slit strips:
      • CRC, HRC, HDG, aluminium
      • Strip thicknesses: 1.5 – 8.0 mm
      • Strip widths: 36 – 650 mm
    • Sheets:
      • CRC, HRC, HDG
      • Sheet thicknesses: 1.0 – 12.0 mm in KF, MF, GF
    • Tubes:
      • Tubes according to EN10305-1/-2/-3, hollow profiles according to EN10210/EN10219
      • Profiled tubes according to drawing
      • Outer diameters from 16.0 – 150.0 mm, wall thicknesses from 1.0–10.0 mm
    • Bar material:
      • Flat steel, VKT, round steel according to EN10058, EN10278, EN 10277
      • Thicknesses: 8.0 – 150.0 mm
    • Castings:
      • Cast iron, unfinished and machined, magnesium, aluminium, and zinc die castings
      • Part weights: 10 g – 28 kg
    • Forged parts:
      • Forged parts, unfinished and machined from standard alloys
      • Part weights: 30 g – 22 kg

    Supplementary and Accessory Products

    This category includes products that complement our portfolio in axle and chassis segments in the light-duty sector, enabling us to offer a full range to our customers. This includes electrical, electronic, mechanical and safety products.

    Electrical and electronic products

    • Electric motors: 12 V electric motors to our specifications and requirements for our powered finished products
    • Printed circuit boards: Assembled PCBs on a contract manufacturing basis including development for our safety technology products and manoeuvring systems
    • Motor-driven finished products to our specifications and requirements

    Mechanical products

    • Folding supports / supports / jockey wheels / cable winches
    • To our specifications and requirements
    • Manufactured using metal processing technologies (machined and unmachined)
    • Mechanical joining methods and welding processes
    • Surface coatings by electroplating and hot-dip galvanisation
    • Assembly of individual components into a finished product

    Safety products

    • Rims, tyres and complete wheels
    • Fittings, stanchions and hinges to our specifications and requirements
    • Loading ramps made of aluminium sheet or extruded profiles
    • Anti-theft devices for coupling heads to our specifications and requirements
    • Cylinder locks to our specifications and requirements for our anti-theft devices
    • Metal assemblies to our specifications and requirements

    Semi-Finished Products, Components, Plastics and Surface Coatings

    As a supplement to our own production depth, we source further production materials in this category. We differentiate between semi-finished products, components, plastics and surface coatings. Included are cold-formed, stamped and plastic parts. In addition, we require rubber mouldings, pre-assembled component groups, bearings, cable controls, DIN and standard parts, as well as surface coatings such as hot-dip galvanising.

    Semi-finished products & components

    • Bowden and cable controls: For braked trailers as well as cable winches incl. cable, metal and plastic components to individual specifications
    • Brake hoses: Dimensions between 290 and 370 mm according to SAE J 1401 and according to drawing
    • Bearings: Taper roller, needle roller bearings, bushes, plain bearings according to DIN (from high-strength material) as well as according to individual specification
    • Pre-assembled components: Welded subassemblies and pre-assembled groups as per individual specification (hydraulic, pneumatic, ...)
    • Shock absorbers: Air, gas-filled and bellows shock absorbers
    • Drum brake linings: According to individual specification

    Punched/Bent/Turned Parts & Welded Assemblies

    • Turned parts: Bearing bolts, guide rollers made of steel and non-steel, automatic turned parts and long turned parts with diameters: 4 – 65 mm and length: 5 – 350 mm according to drawing
    • Springs: Compression, tension and torsion springs made of steel and non-steel according to drawing, wire diameter: 2 – 10 mm
    • Cold-formed parts: Axle stubs and bolts, ready for installation, part weight 0.1 – 5 kg, pressed from wire and bar material, diameter 4 – 50 mm
    • Punched/bent/embossed/laser parts: Sheet couplings and various drawing parts in steel, 2 – 8 mm thickness
    • Deep-drawn parts: e.g. closure caps, steel 1 – 2 mm thickness
    • Fastening and retaining elements: Standard parts according to DIN EN (screws, nuts, tension pins), also to drawing in steel

    Plastics

    • Rubber mouldings: round cords, O-rings, drawing parts made of SBR and other thermoplastic elastomers
    • Plastic parts: to drawing, up to 5 kg part weight, primarily as injection-moulded (1 component)
    • Technical and standard thermoplastics as granulate: POM, PP, PA, PE
    • Technical and standard thermoplastics as semi-finished products: as sheets and rolls in various sizes and thicknesses: ABS, PS, ABS PMMA, PE, APET

    Surface coatings

    • Hot-dip galvanisation, electroplated galvanisation, cathodic dip coating (KTL), powder coating

    In addition to production materials, our procurement requirements also include investments in manufacturing and assembly systems, as well as associated forming, punching and progressive dies. Leading service providers in IT, logistics, and development also add to this category.
